Solve “The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed“

Overview

I constructed a residential live-in file system setup several years ago. And during testing, I reverted to restore one of my workstations.

Following another reboot, I encountered this error message during an attempt to log in as a domain administrator.

Let’s solve it step by step.

Easy steps, follow along.

1. Login to problem workstation using a local administrator’s account.

2. Press Win , search for This PC , right click it and select Properties.

3. Click Change settings.

4. Click Change.

5. Click Workgroup , and give it whatever content you want.

6. Click OK and accept the warning.

7. Wait for a while, click OK again.

8. Accept the restart warning.

9. Click Close , then Restart Now to restart the workstation.

Access the workstations with the same local administrator's account once more. Please repeat steps 2 through 4.

This time, switch back to domain, enter the domain you’re originally in.

12. Click OK and input a domain account’s credential.

13. Click OK , OK , Close and restart the workstation again.

14. Login using domain account now.

Success.
